Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which permanently gives pigmentation to the skin as in a tattoo. Permanent makeup dates back at least to the start of the 20th century it enhances features of the face by adding definition to eyebrows, eyes and lips by the use of colour pigments. Results can imitate the application cosmetics depending upon the design, colour value and amount of pigment used this can look very natural.
At first, permanent makeup results may look darker. This is due to colour remaining in the outermost epidermal layers of skin. Colour softens within a few days during the healing process as the upper layers of epidermis are shed and are replaced by new epidermal cells.
While permanent makeup pigment remains in the dermis its beauty-span may be influenced by several possible factors. These can be environmental, Sun exposure will fade colour. The amount and colour of pigment added to the area, client’s skin type, skincare products used and of course lifestyle can all have an effect on the longevity of the tattoo. Fantastic results are achieved not only cosmetically but also for clients suffering with Alopecia, Scarring, Chemotherapy, or a genetic disturbance in the skin, it is found to be beneficial in disguising scars and white spots in the skin such as in Vitiligo. It is also used to restore or enhance the breast's Areola after surgery.
